Daddy's freak-out session

The above video is Jeff's response when I showed him the ultrasound pictures. Scroll down for our story and more details.

Thank you for visiting our Twins site! We can not believe our family is getting ready to grow by TWO precious boys. It seems like yesterday that I was so in denial that I was pregnant that I waited 4 days to take the test and tell Jeffrey. Really. So, December 23rd we were away for the holiday and I took the test. Immediate positive (of course, I knew it would be b/c I had waited 4 days to take the test). We still have paperwork in China to adopt a daughter. As the wait continued to increase for China, Jeffrey and I had been talking about the idea of pursuing another adoption while we waited. Asking questions like are we to have 3 children, is the timing right, etc. And then...I find myself taking a pregnancy test. That night, I told Jeffrey to close his eyes because I had a surprise for him; I put the test in front of him and he opened his eyes. Shock. He could not speak. I cried. He assured me everything would be ok and we would see the Dr. once we were back in Franklin. We decide not to tell my family until seeing the Dr. Fast forward to Jan 8th. The Dr visit went great. We were very anxious to know that the baby was ok and the heartbeat was strong so we took the next available ultrasound appointment which was the next day at 11 a.m. even though Jeffrey could not make the appointment due to school. I went by myself. Yes, I am crazy. I immediately ask the technician if the heartbeat is strong and she replies, "yes and there are two". So much for easing into the news. I was in shock. I cried. I cried because Jeffrey wasn't there. So she taped the ultrasound for him. After the appointment, I laughed. God's sense of humor had struck again. I had to return to work for the afternoon and I decided to wait to tell Jeffrey in person. Needless to say, when he finally figured out from the ultrasound pictures that there were two babies, he was speechless. Amazing for all of you that know him. He really was in shock the rest of the night from the news. Then we laughed. Because we are blessed. We tried for years to get pregnant before finally having Anna Rose. We've walked with friends through infertility and miscarriages. We know that getting pregnant is a miracle and only orchestrated by our God. And our God has reminded us again that we can plan but His plan prevails. And we are so glad it is that way!
So that is our story, for now.

We have been blessed with friends who have loaned us many items that we need to prepare for the arrival of the Myrick boys.
  • The Woods: A crib to match Anna's crib and lots of boy clothing items.

  • The Coxs: A like-new swing and LOTS of boy clothing, blankets and towel set.

  • The Birckheads: Parents of triplets! Lots of advice on strollers, how to make it all fit in the car and on safety/setting up safe places and contained play areas.
The following are items that we need.

Cash: While we realize it might be rude to say, it is truth. We have the opportunity to purchase gently used items that would be very expensive if purchased new (ex. Peg Perego triplette and duette strollers and the Mountain Buggy Triple Urban jogging stroller). We feel purchasing these gently used items from friends is a better use of our/your money.
